Farewell Gilbert

Jonathan Crombie passed away tragically this weekend.  If you don't know, he played Gilbert Blythe in the Anne of Green Gables series.  Basically he ruined all other men for generations of women and at church today there were whisperings about how we have once again lost hope in finding love.

Is that dramatic Anne enough for you?

So now like a lot of other women I am watching through Anne of Green Gables this lovely Sunday afternoon as I make some food and pin recipes for Raspberry Cordial.

Rest In Peace Gilbert and Jonathan.

randoms.

I bought a new phone this week, and clearing your phone is more now than just ensuring your contacts will transfer.  I had to dropbox over 1,000 photos, copy lists, and write down the list of 20 (20!!) apps I needed to re download.  The lists included: My Bucket list, names I wanted to name my someday-children, random dreams that were so vivid I could write them down, and a tv schedule (seriously I watch that many shows...).  I also had over 100 screenshots of awesome poems and quotes I loved from instagram.

Over the weekend I had the opportunity to meet the Our Best Bites gals with my bloggie friend Emilie.  It was a delightful evening spent chatting with friends and eating good food.  Thanks Emilie for hanging out with me!

I grew up with so many talented people who know and love other talented people.  It makes my heart happy to see their joy and success in life.  A couple of recent examples, my friend Nate and his beautiful soon-to-be bride Savannah featured in Steadfast in the Spotlight during General Conference and my friend Brad and his talented singing group Gentri who just cracked the Billboard top 10 under classical chart and classical crossover chart.

Hosanna

"On Easter Sunday we celebrate the most long-awaited and glorious event in the history of the world. It is the day that changed everything.  On that blessed day, the Savior of mankind, who had taken upon Himself the chains of sin and death that held us captive, burst those chains and set us free."
-Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf

I enjoyed a nice LDS General Conference and Easter weekend with my family.  It is always nice to enjoy good food with good people and also hear some good uplifting words.  It was also fun to watch Deirdre hunt for Easter eggs and dye eggs with my sisters (although I managed to also dye my shirt).

“There are so many wonders in this world,” he said. “However, sometimes when we have them constantly before our eyes, we take them for granted. We look, but we don’t really see; we hear, but we don’t really listen."

Thank You (Entertainment) Note Friday

Thank you Dark Lord Funk.  I love a good parody and am proud of these Utah dudes for being so clever.  So clever in fact that JK Rowling even thinks it is genius.

Thank you Paul and Vin.  Furious 7 was full of the usual gratuitous stuff, but it also had a very poignant ending in which the characters and actors (and through them the fans) said their goodbye to Paul Walker.  So many entertaining and ridiculous moments which we thoroughly enjoyed, with a few tears in the end.

Thank you to the Rock for flexing his muscles.

Thank you Avengers for being entertaining, I'm having a fun time cooking themed recipes and binge-watching through the movies for Marvel Mondays.
