1000 posts.

By sharing something, I realized that I'm not alone, that there are a lot of people that share with me the same preoccupations, the same ideas, the same ideals, and the same quest for a meaning for this life. ” -Paulo Coelho

This is my 1,000th blog post.  I started this blog as a way to chat about my life and write random thoughts in 2005.  I didn't get serious about blogging until 2008.  This blog has evolved into a way to remember the stories that go with pictures since I am behind on scrapbooking.  The past few months it has been even less than that, so I am trying to keep it more regular and make it more well rounded since this is the only consistent form of journaling I have ever done.

Reading back through some of my old posts I just wanted to share favorite and random stuff I wrote once...

"Wanted--a gangsta who likes plays and musicals. Or a guy who just wants to hang out. I'm not picky."

25 words for 525,600 minutes written in January of 2009, still the words I would use today:

I'm a daughter, friend, nurse, woman,
humanitarian, believer.
Lover of people, aggies, truthfulness, God.
Seek light, have faith, measure in love.
No day but today.

"Recent Conversation--
Jill:  His hotness took my words away.
Kristin:  Let's practice what you should say, repeat after me:  "What's going on with you?"
Jill:  "What's going on with you, hotty-mchotty!"
Kristin:  That's not right."

Some random questions:

What is your favorite flavor of jellybean?  Black.  I don't like anything else black licorice flavored but I love black jellybeans.

What's your favorite Christmas movie?  While You Were Sleeping, Just Friends, and the Santa Claus are all tied.

If you could live in any period of history, when would it be? I would love the 50-60's I think most.  Otherwise Ancient Rome for fun.

Tell me 10 things that I'd see when I walk in your door?  my awesome teal couch, my empty fireplace, a cute mantle, Pippin my cat, a book wreath my sister made, a white rug, bamboo floors, my gold triceratops succulent vase, a coat rack, my Groot and Gryffindor scarves.

What kind of celebration would there be on a "St. YOU" day?  Pizza and icecream with friends, then a imax epic movie with popcorn, a game of chickenfoot, and then a relaxing nap with cuddles.

Who would play you in a movie about your life? I think I would like it if Mae Whitman played me.  And it would be a comedy overall.

Give me three words that describe you.  Patient, Exhausted, Loyal

What was the best birthday you ever had?  Birthday in Disneyland vs birthday in New York City.

If you were a ghost, where would you haunt?  oh I would super haunt particular people wherever they may be.

What kind of car did you wish you had when you were a kid? What about now?  An original Hummer when I was a kid. I would love a Yukon now, but am happy with my Mazda Tribute.

Welcome 2016.

I am sitting here wrapped up in a blanket because it is too cold to take down my Christmas tree.  It is a toasty 19 degrees in Salt Lake today and so instead I am listening to Hamilton the musical and am eating Shepard's pie while I wait for bread to rise and attempt to make bread for the first time.  I promise I am not ambitious, I am just trying to find valid reasons to keep the oven on because as I may have mentioned it is COLD today.

Last night I gathered with a random assortment of friends and ward members and attended my first ever midsingle's New Years Eve dance. I sure hope it is my last.  It was a lot of fun overall but things got weird after midnight when I danced with a drunk guy and yeah, things just got weird.

I never try to put too many expectations on a New Year.  I do love the feeling of a dedicated new beginning, so I did write some resolutions.

1.  52 books. For years I completed this resolution and then fell of the wagon last year. I watch far too much television and while I love it I want to read more this year.

2.  Travel somewhere exciting.  I got a call last week that Youthlinc needed a medical mentor for Peru.  This was a trip had decided I wanted to take clear back in June, but when I ended up buying a house I didn't think it would be a reality.  I decided to just go for it and I couldn't be happier.

3.  Catch up in scrapbooking.  My definition of catching up is that I am just ahead of being a year behind or closer.  As long as I scrapbook last Christmas before next Christmas I am good to go.

4.  Learn to bake bread.  I am making some right now but I want to learn several different kinds so I won't cross it off quite yet.

5.  Do something you don't want to do but should.  Not quite ready to share what that may be, not quite sure myself.

6.  Live life more sinceriously.

I am also participating in One Little Word again.  This year my word is LIGHT.  I have been obsessed with the word Light since the Logan Institue theme of Let There Be Light in 2002-2003 and then the EFY theme Stand In the Light in 2004. I am super stoked to be diving into the study and reflection of light in my life this year through the One Little Word prompts.  My new favorite quote I am using to jumpstart my project is:
